Shred the Secrets Room 5 Guide: 4 Buttons & Secret File

Shred the Secrets Room 5 guide with frames: the hidden-buttons hint, the every-other-column sweep, wall counter, golden document and the Ending 1 branch.

Last updated: 2026-09-19

Quick answer

Room 5 is Shred the Secrets' button room: a $1,000,000 quota floor where four green-glowing buttons hide between the paper columns, and pressing all four unlocks the golden secret document that starts Ending 1. The game announces the hunt the moment you walk in — "Find the hidden buttons in the room to unlock the secret document" — and the wall counter ticks up with each press. You do not need to clear every pile: sweeping every other column opens the sightlines that reveal the buttons (the exact button answer lives on the rooms table). The payoff is the run's best joke — the "secret" is a grocery list, the FBI arrives with a cat, and the escape counts as Ending 1 ("What?", the most common ending at a 22.9% earn rate, 376,174 awarded in our badge snapshot checked 2026-08-18). Cash-bought upgrades reset when you enter, so re-buy at the Room 5 shop first (how the loop works). The frames below come from two recordings: the current 12-room build (HUD ROOM 5/12) and an earlier one (HUD ROOM 5/5) — the chain is the constant, the counters are version-dependent. Still UNKNOWN: whether the four buttons sit at fixed spots or move between runs.

How the Room 5 button chain plays out

  1. 1

Walk in from Room 4 — the fake-exit floor — and read the room before shredding. Room 5 is an office drowned in floor-to-ceiling paper columns, with a shredder bench, desks and an upgrade shop of its own. Like every classic room it runs a $1,000,000 money quota, and the HUD counts rooms, not documents — the frame below catches the bar mid-run at $508,252 (rooms table). The frame set mixes two builds on purpose: the current 12-room one (HUD ROOM 5/12) and an earlier recording (HUD ROOM 5/5); the version changes the counters, not the chain.

  2. 2

Re-buy your upgrades at the Room 5 shop. Crossing into a new room wipes the cash-bought setup — the frame below catches the "Room 5 Upgrades" menu with Shredder Speed back at Lv. 0 while Shred Amount and Automatic Shredder are already re-maxed. Shred Amount first is still the community-standard buy order, and every re-buy is cheaper than the minutes a slow shredder costs you (walkthrough, upgrades).

  3. 3

Read the hint the game posts on arrival: "Find the hidden buttons in the room to unlock the secret document." The frame below catches the line landing in the chat feed of the current 12-room build — French localization, the same ask word for word ("Trouvez les boutons cachés..."). No map marker, no door highlight: the game hands you the riddle and turns you loose (the canonical English wording and the full answer live on Room 5 buttons).

  4. 4

Clear every other column — not every pile. The buttons glow green between the floor-to-ceiling stacks, so opening sightlines is the whole game: one recorded run bet that the buttons all sit at the same height and chopped a whole wall to half height to check, and the red-lit half of the room (frame below) hides its share of columns too. Six-plus recordings agree on the sweep (rooms).

  5. 5

Press the 4 glowing buttons and watch the counter climb. The buttons sit between the columns as small green discs — the frame below catches one half-buried behind a tower in the earlier recording. Each press ticks the wall counter up one step, and per the rooms table, all 4 unlock the side room (the canonical count and answers). Whether the same four spots spawn every run is still UNKNOWN — recordings disagree, so sweep, don't memorize.

  6. 6

All four pressed, the side room unlocks — and the golden "secret document" inside is the run's best punchline: it is a grocery list. Grabbing it starts the Ending 1 chain, complete with an FBI arrival and a cat. We keep the document close-ups, the full item text and the reveal sequence on secret-file instead of re-answering them here.

  7. 7

That is Ending 1 ("What?") — and the branch does not end your run. The "What?" badge is the most common ending award: a 22.9% earn rate with 376,174 players awarded in our badge snapshot (checked 2026-08-18), and the official description is one line: "Complete Ending 1." The full route, the OVERVIEW screen and the same-run question live on ending-1 and endings (all endings); per the walkthrough FAQ, Room 5 itself did not change after the [ENDING 3] update. Quota clear, exit green — the run moves on to Room 6's cobwebs (Room 6).

Sources & data notes

Every fact on this page comes from repository data or from the frames themselves. The primary recording is Proder Starcode, Mon PATRON me force à DÉTRUIRE toutes les PREUVES ! (uploaded 2026-09-17, French localization, current 12-room build — the HUD reads ROOM 5/12): the in-chat hint "Trouvez les boutons cachés dans la pièce pour débloquer le document secret" (?t=2205), the column maze with the $1,000,000 bar at $508,252 (?t=2270), the shredder bench (?t=2340) and the green-lit exit (?t=2400). The button-chain recording is OTTER ON ROBLOX, they forced me to SHRED important documents in Roblox... (uploaded 2026-07-26, earlier build — the HUD reads ROOM 5/5, pre-[ENDING 3]): the Room 5 Upgrades re-buy menu (?t=1575), the half-height column sweep (?t=1615), the red-lit office half (?t=1810) and the green hidden button between towers (?t=1825) — treat the chain as the constant and the counters as version-dependent. Two more runs corroborate the chain as fact sources only: Azrilich Roblox, they forced me to SHRED secret documents in Roblox... (a webcam overlay sits on every frame, so no screenshots; the transcript presses the buttons one by one, finds "three more", enters the side room and catches "Ending one. What?" with the cat), and K_doctor, ¡TRITURAMOS LOS SECRETOS MÁS OSCUROS DEL FBI EN ROBLOX! (the transcript matches the button-room beat: "find the buttons to go to the other side"). Room facts cross-check the rooms table (the Room 5 row and the canonical button answer), the Room 5 step and FAQ in the walkthrough; the badge numbers come from the Roblox badges API snapshot in our badge database (22.9% / 376,174, checked 2026-08-18). Frame seconds keep ≥30s distance from seconds other pages already take from these recordings (OTTER's 25:04-32:24 window belongs to room-8, its 10:58/12:30 stamps to room-2 and controls). Still UNKNOWN: whether the four buttons sit at fixed spots or vary per run, and what the green-glowing paper piles visible in both recordings are.
