Core Guides
Last updated: 2026-07-30
Shred the Secrets is an incremental simulator on Roblox: grab documents, crank the shredder, earn cash, buy upgrades, and clear eight rooms before the FBI catches up with you. This guide covers the full loop — from the Room 1 tutorial to squad speedruns, Paperclip classes, and everything the community knows about the two endings. Facts from fan videos rather than official sources are labeled as such.
How to Play: The Core Loop
The core loop: grab documents with E, feed the shredder, crank with F, then throw paper balls into the recycling bin for cash. Room 1's tutorial walks the whole chain hands-on and pays about $193 (community footage). Shredders run on stored energy — every sheet you feed drains the charge. You start able to carry 12 sheets; a full run spans 8 rooms with a $1,000,000 money goal per room (community-reported). Controls confirmed by video guides: E to grab, F to crank, right-click to throw. Check the wiki for every badge and item, and the rooms walkthrough for what each room contains.
Rooms Walkthrough Overview
A full run crosses 8 rooms, and most badges live in Rooms 2-3 — sweep those thoroughly. Room 1 is the tutorial. Room 2 introduces the FBI jump scare and resets your upgrades (Shred Amount back to one sheet). Room 3 holds the Keymaster locker key and the Sketchy Coworker's phone area. Room 4 hides the fake exit (Tricked!). Room 6 is the cobweb room — bring the broom for Housekeeping and grab the glowing crowbar for the basement — and a later room hides 4 buttons between paper columns that unlock a secret document. Community guides say exits open only when the objective counters complete (unverified). Full breakdown: rooms page.
Money & Economy
Cash exists only inside a run: throw paper balls into the recycling bin to earn it, and spend it on the five Skill Tree upgrades — which reset every room. Each room's goal is $1,000,000 (community-reported), so Millionaire comes naturally; Cooking the Books needs $10,000,000 cumulative across runs (0.2% of players). One video benchmark: a beginner with no upgrades earned about $12,000 in 9 minutes — upgrades matter enormously. Squads don't split money rewards, and playing with friends adds a bonus (size unverified). Efficiency tips: clear documents first and batch-deposit later; clear a path to the next room, not every pile. Where the money should go: upgrade section.
Upgrades Priority (Community Consensus)
Shred Amount first, always — it directly multiplies what each cycle earns. After that, opinions split: solo guides put Automatic Shredder second; team and speedrun guides put Carry Amount second and Automatic Shredder third, since it cuts cranking downtime. Everyone ranks Vacuum Power last — one guide says skip it and throw paper straight into the machine. Speedrunner recipe: max Shred Amount, max Carry Amount, then everything else before leaving each room. Per-level costs are unpublished — treat all numbers as unknown; all of this is community-reported. Company Card pops on your first purchase; Exceeded Expectations (1.4%) requires buying out the whole tree in one run. Passes like Insta Shred stack on top: game passes.
Classes & Paperclips
Six classes — Intern, Associate, Night Guard, Supervisor, Manager, CEO — each with three levels, bought with Paperclips, the meta currency that persists between runs. Unlock prices observed on the class menu: 100/100/300/200/300/1,100 Paperclips (footage-observed, may change); level-up costs unknown. Highlights: CEO is the consensus best (team cash up to +25%, $6,000 starting money at L3); Night Guard cuts FBI damage up to 70% and ignores cobweb slow; Supervisor grants team carry up to +4. Paperclips drop while shredding (11-19 per session); farm by repeating Room 1 in under 10 minutes, or buy with Robux. Full tables: classes page; 2x Paperclips pass: game passes.
Endings & Secrets Overview
Two endings: Ending 1 = 4 hidden buttons + the golden grocery-list document; Ending 2 = crowbar, basement, coffee, elevator. Ending 1 ("What?", 22.8%): in a late room, press the 4 buttons hidden between paper columns, grab the golden sheet, and the FBI arrives with a cat — that counts as escape. Ending 2 ("Dark Secrets", 7.9%): grab the glowing crowbar in the Room 6 cobweb room, break the planks into the basement, brew coffee (2 minutes), ride the elevator up with everyone aboard, and clear the "under renovation" final room; a full squad of 4 earns Perfect Attendance (0.4%). Getting caught by the FBI is its own badge, not an ending. Full checklists: secrets page, endings page.
Squad Play & Speedrunning
Squad play is strictly upside: rewards are not split between players, and a friend bonus stacks on top. For Buzzer Beater — finish a run in under 45 minutes — a coordinated 4-player squad is practically mandatory. Role split: two players run the shredders, two collect and vacuum paper. Community-reported timing: four coordinated players clear all 8 rooms in about 40 minutes; even three finish within an hour. The 45-minute threshold is official badge text, but the timer's start point is unconfirmed. Re-max upgrades every room since they reset. Some speedrun videos set an auto-clicker to 1ms — a community tactic with possible moderation risk; use your judgment. Track badges in the wiki and watch updates.
